This workshop looked at the use of our new CPD toolkit. Our team discussed numerous aspects of the toolkit, including the use of archaeological and ethnographic material to facilitate conversations about death, dying, bereavement and grief. We also discussed models of grief including Intuitive and Instrumental Grief, Dual Process Model, Tasks of Mourning and Continuing Bonds. Materials from the toolkit were discussed during the session, and the workshop incorporated a video section, engagement activities and group discussions.

In each workshop, a range of archaeological case studies on different attitudes to death and dying in the past will be presented and the floor opened up to discussion on thoughts generated by this material. Recording of the discussion and questionnaires completed by participants before and after the workshops will help to capture the effect (if any) that the material had in facilitating individuals to think differently about death, dying and bereavement in the present.
Get Involved!
For the purposes of the current project, workshops are currently only open to health professionals and students, though there may be plans to extend its reach in future projects.
